NY FASHION WEEK RECAP

This past week was Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC, and it was a crazy week for J/Hadley.
I caught the Pamella Roland presentation, which featured Nigel Barker as the creative director. The collection showcased a neutral palate, which was a unique departure from what most designers did for the season. My favorite was a white evening gown paired with a white knee length vest over it.  The only thing missing from that outfit was a pair of our pave diamond drop-earrings.
The Micheal Angel collection featured a minimalist, modern set up with black mannequins lined up along the stark, white walls. This was the perfect background to let his vibrant, Egyptian inspired prints pop. His color story featured warm hues mixed with neutrals. I loved the printed dress with a cream top and pleated bottom. The moment I saw it, I had to urge to throw our signature J/Hadley necklaces around the model.
Color and tailoring were definitely the themes of J.Crew’s Spring 2012 collection. We were equally as excited about meeting Jenna Lyons, president and creative director of J.Crew, as we were about the unique color and print combinations. We saw citrine with bright white, turquoise paired with leopard prints, and the all American classic- red, white and denim. My favorite outfit of the presentation was a hot pink collared button up with a pair of vibrant red slouchy pants. This color combination immediately reminded me of our stacking sapphire bangles. J/Hadley tip: jewelry is the perfect way to subtly try many of the trends for this spring without taking a major risk.
Some of my other favorite fashion week moments included spotting Bill Cunningham, famed fashion photographer, taking his place in the photo pen minutes before Badgley Mischka, watching Kim Kardashian walk through the tents looking gorgeous in Vera Wang, and trend spotting from inside Goodness- the pop up restaurant for Fashion Week.
I'm so sad to see Fashion Week go, however I can’t help but get excited for Spring-only a few months before I can get my hands on my fashion week must haves. Until then, I'll leave you with some J/Hadley pieces that are inspired by the trends we saw this week.
