LONDON FASHION WEEK MUST HAVES

I'm sure you were all as deeply engrossed in London's fashion week as I was. Although, I'm a bit biased because I studied abroad there twice while in college, but seriously- the British always get it right!
London's runways looked quite different than the American ones this season. While ours were filled with bright color blocking and 1970's inspired garments, the English chose to do bright colors paired with dark neutrals to create a more somber, mysterious attitude. My favorite looks came from some very British designers- Vivienne Westwood, Burberry and Matthew Williamson.

Vivienne Westwood's Red Label showed off her incredible knack for textile selection- this season everything from dresses to pants were perfectly draped. I love that she used black for Spring which is typically a season free from the dark hue (this is hard for me since the majority of my clothing is black). The asymmetrical hem makes the shape of this dress fresh and modern, while the white shoes give a nod to the spring time.
The quintessential British label, Burberry Prorsum, did it again this season- proving they have earned the right to be the original face of London fashion. My favorite was a green ochre striped sweater paired with a burgundy A-line skirt. Although very classic shapes, the new color combination makes this a fashion forward outfit.
Finally, I adored Matthew Williamson's entire collection. I felt he took a risk with the mixture of black and gold for a spring collection. My favorite outfit was a black mini dress with metallic gold detailing on either side of the hips. This, paired with the tuxedo jacket, and an arm full of bangles would make the perfect outfit for a night on the town in NYC!
Alas, it's so sad to see another fashion week fly by, but there is still Milan to look forward to!
